Supplier FAQs

General Supplier Questions

What are the requirements of becoming a supplier on Dropped?

To use the Dropped platform you must have a business that is operating and selling within New Zealand. You must also be either the original manufacturer or sole NZ wholesale distributor of the products that you dropship, and you must also dropship your products with no minimum order quantities.

Your products must also comply with local laws and regulations, and if your products are restricted for sale on other digital platforms, such as Shopify, you must make this clear on your profile page.

What are the benefits of joining Dropped as a Supplier in NZ?

We are a no-fees marketplace for New Zealand suppliers, meaning that suppliers can use our platform with no commission or transaction fees for a flat $40 NZD per month, free trial available.

By using Dropped, you can reach more customers by connecting with vetted dropshippers, with full control over which dropshippers you accept, your order terms, and what information is shared with dropshippers.

We also integrate with Shopify so that you can run your dropshipping program on autopilot, covering inventory syncing, product updates, order fulfillment, and invoicing.

How does being a Supplier work on Dropped?

Starting your Dropshipper program with Dropped is simple, once you create your account you need to:
  • Connect your Shopify store (optional).
  • Finish setting up your profile.
  • Upload your products (or they will automatically sync if you are using Shopify)
Then we will review the information provided to us, and if approved, you will be ready to accept dropshippers!

When a dropshipper applies to dropship your products, you will receive an email containing all the information you need to know, and their contact details for any follow-up questions if neccessary.

Once you approve your dropshippers, simply sit back and wait for the orders to come in. When you get a new order, you will get a notification and see it on the Dropped platform, and if you use our Shopify integration, we will automatically create a copy of the order in your Shopify store for you to fulfill, and send the invoice to your dropshipper.

If your order terms are set to invoice per-order, the invoice will be sent at the same time the order is created, otherwise the invoice will be sent on the day that you have set.

Will dropshippers see the cost price or available quantity of my products?

Only dropshippers approved by you will your cost price (the price you charge dropshippers for the product) and available quantity.

Who covers the shipping cost?

When a dropshipper is invoiced for the orders that you fulfilled on their behalf, they are also charged shipping fees determined by you for each order. These shipping rates can be set up in your organisation settings, or imported from your Shopify store.

Dropshippers also have the option to sync your shipping rates into their own store, so that the customer is charged your shipping fee at checkout for the dropshipped order.

Can I still join if I don't have a Shopify store?

Yes! You don't need a Shopify store to use Dropped, everything including product loading, inventory updates, and fulfillment can be done directly from our platform if desired.

Using Dropped with Shopify does have many benefits though, because we can automatically sync your inventory, orders, and fulfillment status between you and your dropshippers.

If you use a different platform and are interested in integrating it, let us know at hello@dropped.co.nz and we can help you explore options.

What am I responsible for as a Supplier on Dropped?

The following is a set of general guidelines for what you will be responsible for as a supplier on Dropped, you should also do your own independent research into what is involved with being a supplier and any potential challenges or risks involved.
  • You are responsible for providing accurate information about your business and products.
  • You are responsible for reviewing and approving dropshipper applications.
  • You are responsible for deciding which products to offer for dropshipping, and reviewing the information before enabling the products on our platform, including cost price and your shipping rates.
  • You are responsible for keeping your inventory, product information, shipping rates, and policies up to date.
  • Dropshippers may consult you about your dropshipped products/orders for guidance or resolutions where appropriate.
  • You are responsible for fulfilling orders from dropshippers, you may require dropshippers to first pay an invoice before shipping the order if they are invoiced on a per-order basis.
  • You are responsible for following up with dropshippers directly in the event of unpaid invoices.
  • You are responsible for handling refunds or resolutions with the dropshipper directly in event of packages being damaged, missing, or any other issues concerning your dropshipped orders.

Does Dropped handle payouts?

If you send your invoices via Shopify, then Shopify will handle the payout for your invoices. When an invoice is sent, you have the option to provide instructions such as banking details or a payment link, we do not process payments for you directly.

Technical Supplier Questions

What is Cost Price and RRP?

The cost price is what you will be charge to dropship your product to dropshippers (excluding shipping/handling fees).

RRP stands for "Recommend Retail Price", which is the price that the product normally sells for online, as suggested by you as the supplier.

How can I prevent over-selling my products?

If you integrate with Shopify, we let you set an inventory buffer on either all your products or on a per-product basis. The inventory buffer works by setting a product to out of stock once the quantity is equal to or less than the inventory buffer.

As an example, if your inventory buffer was set to "100", this would mean that if you had a product with 100 or less units available, it would show as out of stock on your dropshippers stores.

We recommend setting inventory buffers for suppliers with a lot of dropshippers or popular products, because you may get multiple orders at the same time for a product that is low on stock, which can risk over-selling the product.

Why aren't my products showing up after connecting my Shopify store?

Please first wait up to an hour, as sometimes it can take a while for the product listing to do the first sync from Shopify to Dropped. If after an hour the product is still not showing in Dropped, please try reconnecting your Shopify store in the Dropped settings page.

Please also ensure the product is set to "Active" in Shopify (We only sync active products)

How do I exclude products from syncing from my Shopify store?

You can either set the status of the product to "Draft" or "Archived" in Shopify, or you can tag the product with "DROPPED_EXCLUDE" in Shopify to exclude an active product.

How do I add my shipping rates?

Your shipping rates can be added from your organisation settings page in Dropped, or imported from your Shopify store.

How do I enable products?

Open the product you wish to enable in Dropped, and press "Enable" in the top-right of the screen. The product must have a non-zero cost price to be able to be enabled.
